Why You Never Get What You Want?

Why You Never Get What You Want?

Recently I had conversation with many people in a single day and noticed something many of them does not really clear on what they want and running on autopilot. I come to relate this to why you never get what you want in life.

Have you ever been in this situation? Someone asks you where you want to go, and you just… can’t answer.

Deep down, your inner voice is screaming “I just want to go pray la! What kind of question is this?!” That’s your first reaction. Frustrated. Defensive. Confused.
But at the end of the day, you still couldn’t answer. Because the question isn’t asking about your mood or your feelings or what you going to do. It’s asking your destination. Where. Specifically. Where do you want to go?
And suddenly, you realize you never actually knew.

Can you relate to this? This is not just a one-time thing. This is your habit. The moment someone asks you something, you’re already reacting but not responding. Your mind drifts away, you’re no longer present. You’re lost in your own thoughts, your own assumptions, your own emotions.
You heard the words, but you didn’t truly listen to the question. You reacted before you even understood what was being asked.

This is the pattern. React first, understand later. And because of this habit, you miss the moment. You miss the clarity. You miss the answer that was already inside you.
And this is exactly why you never get what you want.

When you’re not clear on where you want to go, no one around you can help you get there. The right people are willing to guide you but only if you can tell them where you’re headed.

And even when someone is ready to help, you never open your mouth to ask. Not because you’re shy. But because deep down, you don’t even know what to ask for.
People are not mind readers. No one knows what you need unless you speak up. But before you can speak up, you need to first get still. Get present. Get clear.

So start here. Be present. Breathe. Listen. In your daily conversation understand the question before you react to it. Then ask yourself “1. What do I truly want? Where do I truly want to go?
Once you know the answer, be brave enough to “2. say it out loud”. Because the moment you do, the right people will show up to guide you there.

I hope this inspires you to pause, reflect, and get to know yourself a little better.
