This Round, My Turn to Complain!

This Round, My Turn to Complain!

Life is interesting. Sometimes, it gives us the same lesson from a different side of the story.

In my previous event, I was assigned as a queue master, and everyone had something to complain about.

This time, I was standing beside a girl who was very vocal. She took the lead in calling patrons and assigning them to different counters, including mine.

I felt uncomfortable.

Why was she assigning the queue? We were at the same level. Who gave her the authority to do that?

I didn’t like it, but I kept quiet.

At the next station, she did the same thing again. Her torch was too dim to see clearly, yet she didn’t communicate with me or ask anyone for help. She just continued taking charge.

This time, I was really angry.

But guess what? I still didn’t say anything.

What Did I Learn?

Suddenly, I understood a little more about the people who complained to me during my previous assignment.

I was now experiencing the other side of the story.

A lack of communication can create so many emotions. When people make decisions without communicating, others may feel ignored, disrespected, or treated unfairly.

But what really caught my attention was myself.

I didn’t speak up for myself.

I knew what I disliked, and I could feel my anger building, but I didn’t communicate it.

I realised that speaking up when I feel uncomfortable is a skill I need to practise.

I can express myself without fighting. I can communicate without blaming. I can stand up for myself without making someone else wrong.

I don’t need to wait until I am angry before I open my mouth.

My Guru of the Day

The funny thing is, even though I was angry, I also felt grateful to her.

She became my guru of the day.

She might not know what happened within me, but this experience helped me see myself more clearly.

I saw my resistance, my expectations of fairness, and my difficulty in speaking up when something bothered me.

This time, I choose to process my emotions and let go of what is not mine to carry. What she chooses to learn from this experience is hers.

If we meet again, I would like to talk to her about what happened, not to blame her, but to communicate honestly.

Life keeps giving me opportunities to practise what I have been learning.

Perhaps the universe knows I still need practice!

Thank you for showing me another side of the story.

And thank you for being my guru of the day. ❤️
